Kathmandu Valley Enduro - 5 Days

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal situated in a valley which is an open air museum of famous sites, ancient temples and shrines, golden pagodas and are inspiring deities, is a city of inexhaustible historic artistic and cultural interest. Several beautiful and interesting villages and towns surrounding the valley offer ideal destinations for mini treks. The dazzling himalayan peaks are visible from several points on the mountains around the valley. Nagarkot stands at 2200m above sea level which is one of the scenic spots in the region, renowned for its sunrise views of the Himalayas. You can see Mount Everest with its snow-capped peaks, and there is an observation tower at the very top of the village’s hill. 

Places like Nagarkot, Shivapuri and Phulchowki is popular destination for Mountain biking activity which are the hills around Kathmandu Valley. The trails are mostly single tracks which go through community forest, National parks, small settlements and historical sites.

Upon arrival our guide will receive you at the airport and transfer you to a Hotel in Thamel followed by welcome drinks. After room allocation, clients can build bikes for the ride tomorrow. A trip briefing will be done in the evening during dinner.

After breakfast, we load our bikes and drive towards northside of Kathmandu valley. It will be a good 3 hours ride as we warm up down to Boudha where we settle down for lunch. After lunch, we will drive to Nagarkot and spend the night in Nagarkot.

We start our day after breakfast. The rides for the day will be around Grand Himalayan Enduro trails. We will do a 4-5 hours ride before we settle down for lunch. We finally roll down to Bhaktapur Durbar Square where we settle for lunch. We will then drive to Godawari and stay overnight.

Phulchoki is also one of the best places for enduro around the valley. It is a good 3-4 hours of ride down to Lakuri Bhanjyang where we finish our ride and drive to Patan Durbar Square for sightseeing before we finally head back to Thamel. Farewell dinner will be organized in the evening.

Today you are free until your departure time to the Airport. You can rest or relax or do shopping if you have time. Our representative will come to pick you up 3 hours prior to departure time and transfer you to the Airport. Have a good flight back home with beautiful Himalayan memories of Nepal.

  • International Airfare and taxes
  • Travel Insurance with rescue and emergency evacuation (compulsory) Mountain Bike
  • Nepal Entry visa (Visa is obtained in Nepal Airport immigration on arrival. USD 30 per visa for 15 days, USD 50 per visa for 30 days and USD 125 per visa for 90 days. All the visas are multiple entry visas. Please carry 02 passport sized photographs for the visa.
  • Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu & Pokhara (Please check itinerary)
  • All items of personal nature like telephone bills, laundry, drink etc.
  • Items such as hot water for shower/drinking; Mobile phone and camera charging etc will be extra during the trip which can be paid to the tea house/lodge owner directly.
  • Tipping to field staffs
  • Any other item that is not mentioned in the cost includes list.

Note: We would advise you to bring your own mountain bike, knee pads, backpacks and helmet. To rent a mountain bike in Kathmandu, the cost will be approximately US$ 50 per day depending on the season and availability.
 

About the Guides

Our guides love to ride. Mountain biking began a decade ago and has enough biking experience to lead tours in the Himalayas. Some of our guides are also national level Mountain bike racers and have represented Nepal in various international racing events across Asia. Our guides are also trained First aid responders from Himalayan Medics in which our leader is a certified Wilderness First Responder.

Safety

Our Mountain bikes trip leader is a Certified Wilderness First Responder (www.nols.com).  Our trips take place mostly in the trails inside the jungle, technical trails, rocks etc. hence it will always be risky and hazardous. Make sure you ride within your limits. Biking is a dangerous sport. It is always good to keep your bike in good condition and keep yourself hydrated. Personal medical travel insurance is mandatory.
