The construction work of Pokhara Regional International Airport is underway even in the difficult time of the pandemic. Project Chief, Vinesh Munkarmi said that the construction work has not been affected by the COVID-19.
He said that despite the pandemic, the construction work of the airport has not stopped, and they are supplying the necessary equipment and the construction materials. Till now 63 percent of the work has been completed and in good progress. The process of supplying machines and other equipment is planned to be done within three months and then complete the work within six months. The project is expected to be completed by the mid of 2021.
Also the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai had also said that the construction work will be completed within the stipulated time. So far, the work of the runway, taxiway and domestic and international aprons has been completed at the airport. Similarly, work on the access road, terminal building and service road are in the final stage of construction. The structural work of 54 building has been completed and is being finished. The initial cost of the construction of the Airport is about Rs. 22 billion.
