Prince of Bahrain has arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal along with his mountaineering expedition team of 18 members including three British climbers. They arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning  around 11 am local time at Tribhuvan International Airport. The Prince and the team of climbers were welcomed by officials of Nepal’s foreign ministry.

The team is set to climb Mount Manaslu (8163m) which is the world's eighth highest mountain and Mount Lobuche (6619m). They will acquire the necessary permits for the climbing by Thursday according to the organiser of the climbing expedition. The team is currently staying at Gokarna Forest resort and are undergoing a week of quarantine in line with the health protocol of Nepal government.

After a week, the team will set out for Mt. Lobuche which will be as a part of acclimatization before scaling Mt. Manaslu peak. The team is expected to remain in Nepal for around two months. All the climbers must follow the safety recommendations prepared by the Nepali Health Ministry upon their arrival in Nepal.

Early this week Nepal’s cabinet decided to allow foreigners for mountaineering and trekking starting from October 17. All the tourists visiting Nepal for climbing and trekking must produce a medical report confirming a negative COVID 19 test.
